The 2021 Ford F-250 vs. the 2021 Ram 2500
- Passenger comfort. Regardless of whether you get a four-door, crew cab model with a backseat, or a two-door regular cab with only one row of seats in the front, you and your passengers will be more comfortable in the Ford F-250 than the Ram 2500. Our Ford Super Duty model has more legroom and space to stretch out in than the competing model from Ram, including three extra inches in the front seat, and nearly four extra inches in the backseat of all crew cab models.
- Utility. Depending on the configuration and trim you go for, both of these heavy-duty trucks have a towing capacity that can top out at around 15,000 pounds. But while they tow similar amounts, the Ford F-250 has a higher payload capacity, which means you can haul more and pile your heaviest cargo into the bed of a Ford pickup truck than you can with the Ram model.
- Power and engine options. Not only does the Ford F-250 give you more options for how you want your pickup equipped, it also delivers more oomph and power from those available engines. The F-250 comes in your pick - a 6.2-liter V8 with 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, a 7.3-liter V8 with 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque, or a turbocharged 6.7-liter diesel V8 with 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the Ram 2500 has just a gas-powered V8 option or a diesel option. That's one less engine option than the Ford and the Ram tops out at 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque with its top-tier diesel engine, which is nowhere near the level of power the Ford diesel is capable of.
- Tech features. The Ford F-250 also has more of the features that drivers want than the Ram 2500. Every F-250 comes standard with Wi-Fi capability, which isn't available as an option on the Ram until nearly the top of the lineup. Additionally, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration are standard starting at the second F-250 trim, but not available on the Ram truck until higher up.
